Catchers Academy
In all levels of baseball and softball the catcher is the most important position on the field. Yet in practice and offseason training, catchers practice is neglected by coaches of all levels due to lack of time, or inexperience coaching the position. Behind The Mask founder Joel Stamilio is a former catcher at the University of New Haven, and has coached high-level travel baseball for over 20 years. Coach Stamilio has run catchers clinics, lessons, and coaches seminars for catchers and coaches of all ages and experiences.
Coach Stamilio is also the owner of All Access Sports in Plainville CT, Assistant Varsity Baseball Coach at Southington High School, and coachfor The CT Bombers as the program's catching director since 1999.
Behind The Mask Catcher Academy:
- focuses on the physical, and mental fundamentals for catchers of all ages and skill levels.
- offers individual and group lessons for Catchers of all ages and skill levels.
- provides a digital platform to post videos each week to help catchers stay sharp physically, and Behind The Mask!
Skill/Age Levels for Clinics:
- Beginner- 0-2 years catching experience, or 8-10 years old
- Intermediate- 2-3 years catching experience,or 10-12 years old
- Advanced- 3+years of catching experience or ages 13-up
Clinics and lessons will include fundamental break down in all aspects of catching including; catchers based conditioning in each session, mental preparation for game situations, video analysis of drills, and individual “take home” (drills to be done at home) for each catcher.
